Questions
1. What did I learn?
Not a great deal, to be honest. I deliberately chose a fairly straightforward project for week one. And this was one. I didn’t have any great plan for this, I just did what made sense. I started with the white bricks because I alway do – always with the nice little house. Then I tangented into a wizard’s cottage, some kind of crypt general knight-y weirdness.
I learned that I like building things.
2. Did anything surprise me?
Nope. Only that I didn’t realise how much Lego we have in the house. I was surprised how caught up I got in this. I was looking forward to getting home a couple of nights last week, cos I wanted to get more building done. I am actually quite surprised that I got quite inventive with this – in the past, I’ve generally done the same thing over and over – the traditional white house thing.
3. Would I do it again?
Probably, but I would have to have an actual aim in mind. I quite like the idea in Douglas Coupland’s book Microserfs – The Oop office decorated with Lego sculptures that can be pulled down and put back together whenever. Beautiful!
Here is the finished product. I particularly like the snake and the Manga dudes on the top. I ended up breaking into the Lego sets we were going to sell online. And now everything’s mixed up. But to be honest, it was worth it.
